What is Kinesiology?

We are dynamic human-beings comprised of many moving parts, which is why a Kinesiologist assesses the body as a whole, rather than in isolation. 

We have all felt the connection between our brains and our bodies; when we are emotionally nervous, we can experience changes in our digestive or urinary systems. The mind and body are so connected. The brain controls and sends signals out to our bodies, impacting many of our functions.

Kinesiology is often described as working with an energy called Qi, that circulates through metaphysical meridians in the body. When the flow of Qi through our meridians becomes blocked, illness results. The purpose of Kinesiology (and other energetic therapies) is to promote the proper flow of Qi through the meridians, thus restoring health and wellbeing.

Our muscles are connected to the brain via the Nervous System and run through multiple meridians in traditional Chinese medicine. Via the muscles, Kinesiologists accesses the subconscious brain that is in charge of approximately 95% of our processes and reactions. Our brain stores our memories and past experiences. It is from these memories and experiences that our core beliefs, behaviours, and habits and formed.

Kinesiology can access suppressed difficult emotions and limiting fear-based beliefs, stored in your body, subconscious brain and nervous system.

Using the muscles as a biofeedback tool and accessing this important part of the brain, we can then understand what imbalances might need to be corrected, thus rewiring the bugs in the software and restoring balance in the body again.

When we get to the bottom of any emotional links to our physical symptoms or disease, it is like turning the tap off at the source of stress.

Our meridians and energy networks resemble electronic wiring. Using aids like acupuncture needles and muscle testing, Chinese physicians test their patients’ energy circuits in exactly the same way that electrical engineers ‘troubleshoot’ a printed circuit board, searching for electrical ‘pathologies’.

Our energy system is our most malleable layer and is connected to the physical, emotional, and biochemical aspects of the body. The traditional Chinese medicine technique of Kinesiology can reset your entire system, helping you to let go of stress and any barriers that may be impacting happiness and wellbeing.

How it works.

Upon confirmation of your booking, and after a free discovery chat with Amanda, you will receive an email that outlines our policies, address, and everything you need to be ready for your first session and assessment.

In the email, you will receive a link to an online form that will allow you to fill out your details, diagnosis or symptoms, and client history. This allows Amanda to assess you structurally, biochemically, emotionally, and energetically.

Session 1:

Your initial session is 1.5 hours. This starts with a 30-minute discussion, where we get to know each other, your goals, and your symptoms.

Mindset coaching is then commenced for 15 minutes where you will learn tools that will help you to integrate the session, helping to support you as you rewire your brain to fire growth and repair pathways, instead of survival and stress signals.

Next, we commence 45 minutes of Kinesiology where you will be on a massage table, enjoying your first kinesiology session. In session one, we focus on mindset tools that can help you be more aware of what is causing a stress response in your nervous system. For everyone, this is unique, but once discovered this awareness and understanding can promote repair and a mindset that promotes positivity and performance. Feeling more flexible, adaptable, and positive, gives us the ability to move forward in our lives, navigate change, and into a life that we love. You will learn how to find a deeper anchor within yourself, that will shift your relationships, and ability to manifest, and heal. In this session you will receive follow-up notes from your session, accompanied by an eBook Resilience and an introduction to The Bend Like Bamboo program.

Session 2:

Follow-up sessions run for 1 hour, we chat for 15 minutes to review how you are feeling mentally and physically after your last session. Sessions are typically 2-4 weeks apart. In session two, you will learn about our state of mind that promotes stress, degeneration, and inflammation. When you feel like you are disengaged and living on autopilot. In this mindset session, you will discover how to be more present, and connected. A more flexible state that promotes growth and repair pathways, mood stability, positivity, and healing. A similar feeling you have felt when in the honeymoon stage of love, or when you are relaxed on a holiday. In this session you will receive follow-up notes from your session, accompanied by an eBook Happy Mind.

Session 3:

In a follow-up session, we chat for 15 minutes to review how you are feeling mentally and physically after your last session. Sessions are typically 2-4 weeks apart. In session three, we focus on stretches and exercises that promote fitness, detoxification, and endurance. Your functional movement program will be customised, helping you to destress and let go of negative emotions that you are ready to let go of. Amanda will assess any physical symptoms or pain in your body and work to aid correction. In this session you will receive follow-up notes from your session, accompanied by an eBook Happy Body.

Session 4:

In a follow-up session, we chat for 15 minutes to review how you are feeling mentally and physically after your last session. Sessions are typically 2-4 weeks apart. In session four, discover how to nourish your body on a cellular level with fresh, local, and sustainable whole foods. Learn the common denominators from studies on foods that maximise repair, which foods to focus on, and which ones to avoid. Learn how to prepare 625 delicious recipes with ease at home that will help you eat better, and feel better. In this session you will receive follow-up notes from your session, accompanied by an eBook Happy Food loaded with recipes from Amanda’s former business Nourissh.

Session 5:

In a follow-up session, we chat for 15 minutes to review how you are feeling mentally and physically after your last session. Sessions are typically 2-4 weeks apart. In session five, discover how to give your mind and body the best environment to adapt to change. Promote repair in your mind and body with the power of meditation, learn how to wash and empty your mind of old and redundant beliefs and stories from your past, and choose new reactions, thoughts, and habits that can help you to support the systems of your body. A deeper connection within you leads to stronger and more fulfilling relationships in your life. In this session you will receive follow-up notes from your session, accompanied by an eBook Connection.

Session 6:

In a follow-up session, we chat for 15 minutes to review how you are feeling mentally and physically after your last session. Sessions are typically 2-4 weeks apart. In session six, set up your day with intention and gratitude. Using the power of journaling, discover how you can rewire the brain to be more positive and solution-focused. This tool also helps you to stay focused on your ongoing journey, supporting a maintenance program moving forward. In this session you will receive follow-up notes from your session, accompanied by an eBook The Bend Like Bamboo Journal.

Maintenence sessions.

After you have mastered the art of bending like bamboo, you now have the tools to boost resilience in your life with flexibility. Change is a constant in life, and our ability to manage stress and change can determine how happy, healthy, and successful we can be in our lives. Anytime you feel the need for a tune-up, you are welcome to book in for a maintenance session.

Promoting repair and performance with Kinesiology.

Kinesiology understands that the muscles are connected to the brain via the nervous system. Kinesiologists use the muscles to understand the health and state of our organs and systems of the body. When tested, the integrity of our muscles gives the practitioner feedback and an insight into the mind-body connection and any imbalances that need to be assessed.

Taking a wholistic approach helps a trained practitioner to find the cause of a physical, emotional, biochemical or energetic imbalance, as there are often many moving parts to the equation, along with subconscious programs to consider. I find kinesiology to be effective for both physical and emotional disorders. Some examples are relief fromsymptoms of disease, fertility issues, addiction, menopause, anxiety, worry and stress, pain, inflammation, allergies, injuries, weight loss and inflammation.

Kinesiology is effective for optimising performance and learning, identifying our barriers to achieving our goals, and is one of the most powerful modalities that I have ever experienced.

Our body works as a whole and is totally connected, so knowing how to navigate many of its layers changes everything and helps tremendously with trouble shooting and repair.

When we break down the many moving parts into smaller pieces, so much information is revealed. This is the most fascinating part of the mind-body connection and is what inspired me to study Sports Kinesiology. 

In every session, I feel like I have returned back to myself; I experience an alignment of my mind, body and spirit. I feel lighter, clearer and more relaxed. I am better able to manage stress and take on life’s challenges with a positive and resilient mindset.

How Kinesiology changed my life.

When I was 31 years old, I changed my career from the fashion industry after experiencing enormous change in my life. I was rebuilding my mind, body and life, after recovering from a MS attack that paralysed me.

A kinesiologist and physiotherapist helped me to walk again, so I was inspired to go back to school to study Sports Kinesiology. I learned about Chinese medicine concepts of the mind- body connection, anatomy and physiology.

My studies explored the body’s connection structurally, biochemically, emotionally and electromagnetically. This was the first time I had understood the body in such an integrated way, rather than seeing it in isolation.

I discovered that we don’t think or function in isolation; there are many moving dynamic parts, all connected in a very powerful wayKinesiology was one of the biggest gifts that has ever come into my life.

Kinesiology helps me to get to the cause of stress in my mind and body. It helps me to navigate life, it brings guidance and clarity. It connects all the dots and solves a puzzle of many move parts that comprise a human being that is made of physical, mental, emotional, intuitive, intellectual biochemical, spiritual and energetic parts.

When I studied it, it was like I sat down at a piano, and I could just play. I just got it and could see how I could use my ability to feel energy, in a way that could move it and unblock imbalances. I learned to use the technique as a tool to heal my own imbalances.

The results were so outstanding, that I decided to dedicate my life also helping others to do the same.

The Bend Like Bamboo Program.

Amanda will assess you structurally, biochemically, emotionally and energetically. In your first session Amanda will learn all about your goals, what has held you back in the past and what is preventing you to reach your potential in the future. Using mindset and coaching tools and Kinesiology, together we will unravel any inner conflict, to create alignment of what you are wanting vs. what you are believing about yourself and what can be possible.

Mind

Mindset is everything, the state of mind that you create at the start of the day is how you set yourself up for success. How you manage your stress levels, manage your emotions, how you perceive your hurdles and your ability to be flexible and problem solve is going to be key in your recovery and success.

What you think, feel, and believe is connected to your happiness and health. Learn how to focus on what you want and the positive by leveraging the reticular activation of the brain.

Food

When we nourish your body on a cellular level we can maximise growth and repair. Learn what foods to prioritise that are right for you, enjoy healthy nutrient dense recipes with practical chef inspired methods that take the grind and boredom out of deciding what to eat.

Body

Movement is a great way to build strength and endurance. Stretches and exercises promote fitness and gut health. Movement is another way to elevate our mindset, boosting emotional resilience. We custom stretches and exercises to maximise a positive mindset for you, helping you to shift difficult emotions and stress.

Connect

Sometimes, we have to disconnect to reconnect. When we can quiet the mind, we can get back in touch with our inner knowing and wisdom inside of us, that guides us onto the right path. We know when we are connected, aligned and living our truth, it feels amazing. Reconnect back to you and to your loved ones and allow your soul to expand and grow. I believe this is where true fulfilment and healing can be achieved.
